Oregon Dog Rescue

Your next best friend is waiting...

Volunteer and Fostering

We are looking for a few good homes.....can you help?

Oregon Dog Rescue accepts owner released dogs almost on a daily basis. We also take in dogs
from shelters who no longer have room for the dog or when dogs are not doing well in a shelter
environment. We complete any medical (shots, spay/neuter, medicated baths, supplements,
etc.) and also temperament test the dog and prescribe any ongoing training to be completed
with the foster parent. We equip our foster parents with crates, food, leashes, collars, meds,
toys, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent & anything else they may need.

We are always in need of volunteers and foster homes, usually based on a per week basis (for Fosters). Like all rescues, we heavily rely on our community for support and help to stay running. If you have an interest in just helping out on our Saturday adoption days, GREAT! Just drop by on Saturdays at Tualatin Petsmart 11:00 - 5:00. If you are interested in fostering a rescue, please contact us and we will setup and perform an interview. For more information on how the fostering program works, please e-mail us and feel free to read some info below in the meantime and ask questions. Fostering a rescue can be a very rewarding and life changing experience. We hope you will join us.

Volunteer Work

As a volunteer at ODR, you will help out with adoption evens which include walking dogs, talking to people about our program, about the recues and so on. Helping new adopters shop for their pet. Setting up and packing equipment on adoption days. Transporting dogs to vet appointments and home checks. Running needed errands. Calling back adopters with questions and helping out with fundraisers. Any help is appreciated. Come join our team, just drop by Tualatin Petsmart on Saturdays from 11:00 - 5:00.

Fostering a rescue

Fostering a recue can be very rewarding. We will provide the foster with supplies such as: a crate, bedding, toys, meds, food and any other items needed. Most rescues are put in foster care for one week at a time. Usually from Saturday to Friday so that they can make it too adoption day. But we also need long term foster parents as well. If you would like to have a companion, but don't have the time to keep one for the long run, we also need to rehabilitate dogs as they come in. Unfortionaly, this happens often. When you foster for the long run, you will receive support in correcting what ever problems are being addressed as well as supplies needed. The foster parent must also care for the dog, take the dog to vet appointments if necessary, give meds, report their observations, and so on. Depending on the case, the foster parents may receive phone calls from the potential adopters with questions about the dog.

The Hardest part in fostering is letting go a good friend. But at the same time, it's one of the most rewarding things that can happen to someone. Again, please feel free to just stop by on adoption day and ask questions. Every Saturday at Tualatin Petsmart from 11:00 to 5:00.
