Meet an Oregon Dog Rescue Donor: Jeff Swickard and Mercedes-Benz of Wilsonville
For Jeff Swickard, giving back to the community is a part of doing business. As the owner of two Pacific Northwest dealerships — Mercedes-Benz of Wilsonville in Oregon, and Epic Ford in Everett, WA — he’s put charitable giving at the forefront of his companies.
Last year, Mercedes-Benz of Wilsonville donated more than $116,000 to nonprofits. Previous years saw donations totaling $90,000 in 2014 and $140,000 in 2015.
His businesses regularly support a variety of causes, including arts organizations, local veterans, children’s cancer, and other charitable causes, both in the Wilsonville and greater Portland area, and nationally.
But Jeff’s personal passion is in supporting the organizations that help those without a voice: animal welfare nonprofits and rescues.
In fact, for each car sold at Mercedes-Benz of Wilsonville, they donate $100 to either Oregon Dog Rescue or another local rescue, the Pixie Project.
Jeff was inspired to get involved with animal welfare in 2005, after welcoming a rescue dog into his family. That experience compelled him to help other animals like her.
He is passionate about supporting organizations that help animals most in need, including those at high-risk of euthanasia and animals impacted by medical needs, breed discrimination, behavioral problems, and other disadvantages.
Says Jeff, “I’m drawn to Oregon Dog Rescue because they are committed to helping animals in our overcrowded local shelters as well as saving animals from high-kill shelters in other cities.”
As a donor, Jeff is motivated by the the millions of animals still in our shelters. “We are committed to championing the organizations that are dedicated to saving animals’ lives and helping them find permanent homes,” he says.
